Alright, so I’m gonna change it up a little. The Cool Kids have to be my favorite rap group out there right now. Maybe ever. Okay, so obviously Wu Tang, and N.W.A are up there too. The Cool Kids are often labeled as Hipster Rap which carries some what of a negative connotation. The Cool Kids consist of the dope lyricist Mikey Rocks and the banging producer Chuck Inglish. The Chicago and Detroit natives often reference local sports teams in their raps like the Chicago Bulls and the Detroit Pistons.
The first song I heard from them was Black Mags. “I got this 89-90, Pistons champ flat/Bill black starter cap with the hologram tags” enters with that bass that bangs in any car speakers. These lines alone reference the throwback styles both of them rock daily. From that point forward I was hooked. I even follow them on twitter, ha. What I think is really cool about these guys is their free mixtapes. They’ve released three mixtapes with some guest producing by Dj Don Cannon (Ex: Asher Roth: Cannon).
Mixtapes
That’s Stupid! (2007)
Gone Fishing (2009)
Merry Christmas (2009)
They’ve also released two official EP’s.
EPs
The Bake Sale (2008)
Totally Flossed Out (2008)
They’re also working on a Full Length to be titled When Fish Ride Bicycles. I love the originally styles and lingo of these guys. “Man I went ham when I rapped this out” (Catch of the Day-The Cool Kids). I never heard that phrase went ham until Mikey Rocks posted it on his twitter, now I kind of dig it. The smooth flow over the bass heavy, old school drum beats could not be done any better. Chuck Inglish has produced tracks for artists like Chip Tha Ripper (Cleavland is going hard with Kid Cudi and Chip) Tenille and Dom Kennedy. So even if you aren’t a hip hop fan, check them out and be on the look out for When Fish Ride Bicycles. I leave you with the Pennies video.
As I was researching for my English paper on the Progressive Movement, I came across Franklin Roosevelt’s 1944 State of the Union address. I was deeply appalled that any president, especially one that is often portrayed as one of the greatest ever, would propose something that’s so against the America’s foundation. Below I will copy the address and highlight his new “rights:”
“It is our duty now to begin to lay the plans and determine the strategy for the winning of a lasting peace and the establishment of an American standard of living higher than ever before known. We cannot be content, no matter how high that general standard of living may be, if some fraction of our people—whether it be one-third or one-fifth or one-tenth—is ill-fed, ill-clothed, ill-housed, and insecure.
This Republic had its beginning, and grew to its present strength, under the protection of certain inalienable political rights—among them the right of free speech, free press, free worship, trial by jury, freedom from unreasonable searches and seizures. They were our rights to life and liberty.
As our nation has grown in size and stature, however—as our industrial economy expanded—these political rights proved inadequate to assure us equality in the pursuit of happiness.
We have come to a clear realization of the fact that true individual freedom cannot exist without economic security and independence. “Necessitous men are not free men.” People who are hungry and out of a job are the stuff of which dictatorships are made.
In our day these economic truths have become accepted as self-evident. We have accepted, so to speak, a second Bill of Rights under which a new basis of security and prosperity can be established for all—regardless of station, race, or creed.
Among these are:
The right to a useful and remunerative job in the industries or shops or farms or mines of the nation;
The right to earn enough to provide adequate food and clothing and recreation;
The right of every farmer to raise and sell his products at a return which will give him and his family a decent living;
The right of every businessman, large and small, to trade in an atmosphere of freedom from unfair competition and domination by monopolies at home or abroad;
The right of every family to a decent home;
The right to adequate medical care and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health;
The right to adequate protection from the economic fears of old age, sickness, accident, and unemployment;
The right to a good education.
All of these rights spell security. And after this war is won we must be prepared to move forward, in the implementation of these rights, to new goals of human happiness and well-being.
America’s own rightful place in the world depends in large part upon how fully these and similar rights have been carried into practice for our citizens.”
These are so blatantly radical, unconstitutional, and socialist. It gets a whole lot worse. According to an article on www.forbes.com, Cass Sunstein (Head of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs) is a strong supporter of these rights. Sunstein wrote a book, published in 2004 titled, The Second Bill of Rights: FDR’s Unfinished Revolution and Why We Need It More than Ever. If you believe in the constitution, the founding of this nation, and capitalism than you should be nervous that he has such a high position. These “rights” would astronomically grow the size of government and result in excessive taxation to fund all the programs.
It seems clear that’s exactly what progressives want, the growth of government, the death of capitalism and the rise of socialism. “Obama calls himself a progressive, as does Hillary Clinton” (http://www.newsweek.com/id/189122). Al Gore also considers himself a progressive, you know the guy who’s not a scientist and cares so deeply about the environment/global cooling, err I mean warming, and thinks he knows global warming inside and out. Now, either these liberals, progressives, which ever you prefer to call them are either unaware at the extremely radicalism of their titles or they intend completely to uproot America and “Fundamentally transform” America.
Recently the White House has released a series of verbal attacks on Fox News. Anita Dunn (the women who turns to Mao Tse Tung and Mother Teresa the most) was quoted saying that Fox News was a “wing of the Republican party.” Obama refused to meet with Fox News on September 20th, when he visited five other news networks. Rahm Emanuel has said that Fox News is not a news organization.
The White House seems to be mixing reporters and hard news coverage with political commentators. In prime time coverage Fox News dominates the rest day after day. The prime time numbers for October 30th, 2009, taken from http://tvbythenumbers.com/category/ratings/cable-news show just that.
P2+ Prime Time
FNC – 2,200,000viewers
CNN— 563,000 viewers
MSNBC –793,000 viewers
CNBC – 104,000 viewers
HLN – 459,000 viewers
This next chart proves that in prime time at 5:00 clock, Glenn Beck dominates all other shows combined.
Glenn Beck's Weekly Rating
Yet still the White House continues to attack Fox News. This cannot work out good in anyway for the White House. First off, all they are doing is giving Fox News more publicity. Second, they will be viewed as being hypocritical. Fox News has many right leaning commentary shows, but that is no different than MSNBC’s left leaning commentary shows. Neither network should be attacked because it is there right to do so. The news is still a business, and its all about ratings. Its evident that people do not side with political hosts such as Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow; all you have to do is look at the ratings.
The real network that must shut down is PBS. Not on the basis of unfair coverage but the fact that it has become obsolete now. The Public Broadcasting Service receives tax dollars from local, state and federal governments each year. In a time where people are struggling to make ends meet, is it fair to take their tax dollars and put them towards and obsolete television network? The Public Broadcasting Act was passed by Lyndon B. Johnson in 1967. The act was originally signed to make sure that all Americans had news coverage, even if they can’t afford it. Almost all American families today have cable news or the news stations of ABC, NBC and CBS. Many Americans would love to have their tax dollars back rather than have PBS. The government could sell off PBS to a private new company and maybe pay back some debt. This shows how many state, local and federal tax dollars go towards PBS and National Public Radio each year.
Mark Lloyd, the FCC’s Chief Diversity Officer said “It should be clear by now that my focus here is not freedom of speech or the press. This freedom is all too often an exaggeration. At the very least, blind references to freedom of speech or the press serve as a distraction from the critical examination of other communications policies. ” He also stated “The purpose of free speech is warped to protect global corporations and block rules that would promote democratic governance.”
This man is a radical and does not even believe in the first amendment! I know that Americans would not agree with this. I feel they just don’t realize its going on. He is also trying to bring back the fairness doctrine. This also attacks the first amendment by forcing radio stations to provide fair coverage. Sounds nice doesn’t it? The radio industry is a business, if their was a need for liberal talk radio (because most of talk radio is conservative) then more liberal radio station would arise. It’s simple supply and demand. This would probably require government funds to start up these radio talk show hosts. Where does that money come from? Our pockets.
To preserve our republic and our constitution we must stop these men from passing acts against it.
Just listen to the quotes of the founding fathers.
Think to yourself, what is the constitution to you?
How important are the bill of rights?
Glenn Beck could not be anymore right when it comes to this video clip. Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, George Washington, Ben Franklin, John Adams and all the other founders were educated in the works of John Locke, Niccolo Machiavelli, Aristotle and Plato. Do you really want to join the side of people who respect and turn to Mao Tse Tung and Karl Marx? You must stand up against these people who believe capitalism is a failure. Communism and Socialism has never worked. America and the free market system has worked. These people believe that the constitution is a living document, these people believe that the second amendment is not necessary anymore.
Some people may believe that the country needs to be fundamental changed but I know that most people don’t. How can the government spend any money that we don’t have? Like George Washington said, the act of borrowing money is a terrible thing. How are we going to pay for health care? The only way is more taxes. Do you believe the government can handle your money better than you can? We must preserve our Republic.
President Obama was awarded today with the winning of the noble peace prize. The Norwegian Nobel Committee surprised many people with the choice. They stated he was chosen for his “new climate in international politics” and his work on nuclear disarmament. According to the Associated Press article Obama was chosen due to how he “encourage[d] his initiatives to reduce nuclear arms, ease tensions with the Muslim world and stress diplomacy and cooperation rather than unilateralism.” The committee also stated “His diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world’s population.”
Personally, I see this as a spite to former President Bush. It seems as if he was awarded the prize for not continuing the Bush policies in the Middle East. Obama has been president for only 37 weeks and his foreign policy is far from being qualified for the Noble Peace Prize. They are still having trouble coercing Iran to abandon their nuclear policy (not that that’s an easy task for anyone). They are still debating on the war in Afghanistan, whether to send more troops (which the lead general recommends). If they are basing his qualifications for the Noble Peace Prize off his”new climate in international politics” and his work on nuclear disarmament, you could give the Noble Peace Prize to numerous world leaders.
He’s not the first president to win while being in office. Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson won the noble peace prize while they served as president as well. Roosevelt was president from 1901 to 1909 and he didn’t win the Noble Peace prize until 1906. That’s after one full term of being president. Not 37 weeks. Same goes for Wilson who was in office from 1913 to 1921, he won the Noble Peace Prize in 1919. A term and a half of being president.
Mr. Obama’s win includes a cash award of 10 million Swedish kronor (about $1.4 million). Maybe he’ll put that towards the trillion+ dollar deficit. Not that it would help much.
EDIT: Obama was nominated two weeks after he became president. Only two weeks! What did he possibly do in those fantastic two weeks to be nominated for the Noble Peace Prize, because he sure as hell didn’t do anything before that.
Yesterday the Chicago supreme court granted Alan Gura, a constitutional lawyer, the right to address them on their ban of hand guns. Alan Gura also addressed the DC ban on hand guns recently. Both these bans are direct violation of the constitutional right to “bear arms.” Banning hand guns also do not lower gun crime rates. In 1982, a survey of imprisoned criminals found that 34% of them had been “scared off, shot at, wounded or captured by an armed victim.”
In Chicago, murder rates were up over the same time frame last year. The number of homicides from when they past the hand gun ban and now have risen from:
2007: 442
2008: 510
Doesn’t seem all that effective to me? Washington DC also passed a hand gun ban in 1976. “Between 1976 and 1991, Washington D.C.’s homicide rate rose 200%, while the U.S. rate rose 12%.” Total offenses involving handguns in England have risen since 1997. Crimes involving firearms have more than doubled since the gun ban in 1997 as well. Also in Canada, the “breaking and entering” crime rate rose 25% after the 1977 law preventing handgun use for self defense. Since 1998, the number of people injured by firearms in England and Wales increased by 110%, from 2,378 in 1998/99 to 5,001 in 2005/0
As cliche as it seems it is true “guns don’t kill people, people do.” Rather than banning all guns, which is shown not to work, how about more strict penalties for violating gun laws? If a criminal wants to commit a crime with a gun, he is going to get a gun. End of story. Whether he has to buy it on the street or in the store. Not to mention its in direct violation of our constitution. Not only that, but Thomas Jefferson also stressed the importance of gun ownership by citizens. “What country can preserve its liberties if its rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms.” –Thomas Jefferson to William Stephens Smith, 1787.” James Madison in the Federalist Papers also backs the importance of the second amendment. “To these would be opposed a militia amounting to near half a million of citizens with arms in their hands, officered by men chosen from among themselves, fighting for their common liberties, and united and conducted by governments possessing their affections and confidence.” Madison shows there that the militia, which is often used as an argument against gun control, is chosen by themselves.
Then again, these are just old, obsolete thinkers and the constitution is a living document right? According to President Obama it is.
OH NO?! Not the evil, hate mongering nut job Glenn Beck? This video must be wrong. It’s clips of their own voices and their own quotes, its just facts. And that’s that.
Lisa Snyder, left, watches kids play at their bus stop.
A mother in Michigan has been told not to watch her neighbor’s kids in the morning because state law says “no one may care for unrelated children in their home for more than four weeks each calendar year unless they are licensed day-care providers.” This is just completely ridiculous. I’m pretty sure they are going to have to change that law. The neighbor is trying to do a good deed by watching her neighbor’s kids and is going to get punished by it. The Associated Press article stated “It also has irked parents who say they depend on such friendly offers to help them balance work and family.”
I remember growing up in Massachusetts that my mother or other mothers would watch neighbors kids if they needed help or something. They were being good neighbors. I can’t imagine how many parents across Michigan would be penalized for doing good deeds. I’m also confused as to how the state knew she was watching these kids before the bus every morning. Did someone tell them? or what? Who knows. It’s these kind of deeds that need to be promoted all neighbor’s should be neighbors like her.
State Rep. Brian Calley (R-Portland), said he was working to draft legislation that would exempt situations like Snyder’s from coverage under Michigan’s current day care regulations.
Senator Joe Lieberman (I-CT) is going against liberal democrats again according to a POLITICO article. Senator Lieberman is trying to get money for more coal and nuclear energy plants. “Coal and nuclear plants are reviled by many environmentalists, who see them as dangerous and dirty sources of power.” I stated in my last post on green energy that nuclear energy only uses one square mile of land and coal 4 square miles (mainly for mining). That is significantly smaller usage of land. If the so called environmentalists want to help save the environment then shouldn’t they support energy that takes up less land?
“In 2005, Lieberman tried to attract support for a climate bill he sponsored with McCain by including provisions that would have helped the nuclear power industry. The bill failed 38-60, after California Sen. Barbara Boxer and several other Senate Democrats voted against it.” Senator Lamar Alexander who wrote the article in the Wall Street Journal, I posted about last week also said the United States should build 100 new nuclear plants by 2030.Which would be 41 more plants than France has but the size of America is about double than France, so we would need more nuclear plants.
The seat that belonged to beloved Ted Kennedy is up for appointment after his passing. The Massachusetts senate voted to allow Governor Deval Patrick to appoint his successor. The law was previously changed when Mitt Romney was governor. When John Kerry was running for the presidential seat they voted to hold a special election so that Mitt Romney (R-Gov) would not appoint his successor. This is a huge flip flop, the democrats are using there power to make sure a democrat gets appointed. They were afraid Mitt Romney would appoint a republican senator and now they want to make sure the people of Massachusetts don’t vote a republican in office. Thus giving Deval Patrick (D-Gov) to appoint Kennedy’s successor.
Most green energy people argue over which type of green energy to use. Solar, Wind, Nuclear, Natural Gas, etc…
I find myself at an awe as to how people in congress want to put up wind turbines and solar panels. Why? Well, I can sum it up in a quote I read in the Wall Street Journal on Thursday, from Lamar Alexander, a Tennessee Republican Senator. “I fear we are going to destroy the environment in the name of saving the environment.” The article continues to explain that nuclear energy is far less “land-intensive.” Senator Alexander continues to explain that it only requires “one square mile to produce one million megawatt-hours per year, enough electricity for about 90,000 homes.” As compared to geothermal energy which requires 500 square miles to produce the same amount of energy. Coal needs 4 square miles, Natural gas needs 8 and petroleum needs 18. Wind farms require 30. I don’t want to see America’s beautiful landscapes be deteriorated by wind turbines and solar panels.
France runs 78.8% on nuclear energy according to the calculations of Tera-watt hours in 2004. According to a 2001 poll, people from France have a 70% good outlook on nuclear energy and 63% want them to remain the leader in nuclear energy. A big problem with nuclear energy is how to dispose of the waste. According to the Nuclear Energy Institute the waste is usually stored in large water pools until the radiation becomes lower.
They also posted this to explain nuclear energy’s economic benefits
Electricity Production Cost by Fuel Type (2008)
Nuclear: 1.87 cents per kWh
Coal: 2.75 cents per kWh
Natural gas: 8.09 cents per kWh
Oil: 17.26 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh)
According to Senator Alexander, there are “serious proposals” wanting to place 50 story wind turbines along the top of the Appalachian chain because the wind blows hardest there. This would destroy the landscape of the beautiful mountains. He explains in the article that 300 miles of mountaintops from Tennessee to Virginia with turbines would only produce a quarter of the amount of energy you would get from Tennessee Valley Authority Watts Bar Nuclear Plant.
